Preserving Our History

March 10, 2010

Dear Church Family,

It has been said “Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”  (George Santayana, 1863 - 1952)  In the case of Calvary Baptist Church in Alexandria, Louisiana, our motivation for learning from our past is quite the opposite, as there is so much in our history that a healthy body of believers would be thrilled to repeat.  In anticipation of Calvary's 90th Anniversary in February 2011, the Historical Committee is gathering stories of the faithfulness of our God as witnessed by our Calvary members.  This study of our history is born of a desire to live out the same bold faith that motivated the generations before us.  It has been said of Calvary “We chose to do the best of things in the worst of times.  We built a church.”

This is where you come in.  We want stories of how you have seen God move in our midst at Calvary.  Some ideas of what you might want to share could include a fond memory, a way your faith was tested, or a specific time when you experienced the movement of God.

Because we want to include a large variety of stories, we are asking that each person write their thoughts in 400 words or less.

You can complete the response by clicking here.

Our deadline for receiving stories is April 30, 2010.

Thank you for helping us preserve our history to inspire future generations.
